Denver, Albuquerque & San Diego Tango Festivals

Update Sept 30, 2008

3rd New Year's Tango Festival
in San Diego, Jan 1 - 4, 2009

Tango festivals "By Dancers; For Dancers"

Brought to you by the organizers of the Denver Tango Festivals. We produce tango festivals that emphasize social dancing, not performance tango and shows. These festivals are designed for people who love the style of Argentine tango popularin the milongas of Buenos Aires: close, subtle & romantic.

Please note: These festivals attract a lot of good dancers. We will not be offering Beginner classes. Intermediate classes assume you already know the basics of tango, i.e. ochos, ocho-cortados, improvisation, and navigation. Because the price is reasonable, many advanced dancers attend classes.

About the Denver and San Diego Tango Festivals:

Dance! Milongas start with the Friday afternoon "Welcome Milonga" to the "Hardcore Sunday Milonga". Early arrivers can take classes and dance on Thursday.

The dance floors will be arranged for social dancers: Great dance surface, Perimeter clearly defined, Walkways for pedestrians off the floor, and Tables for watching the dancers. Floors are crowded, but the navigation is very good. We usually have 2-3 BuenosAires style lanes formed around the perimeter of the floor. Most of the dancers are accustomed to the cabeceo; try getting dances by catching your partner's eye... from 10 or 50 feet away.

Learn! All instructors have been selected for their skill as Teachers, Crowd Pleasers and Community Builders. The workshops are designed to enhance the community-nature of these festivals. Here is where you meet and get to know partners for the evening dances. The classes include many people who are top dancers or teachers in their home communities, trading ideas and picking up new moves.

Make Tango Connections! These are tango fanatics who repeatedly visit the festivals in Denver, San Diego, Ann Arbor, Atlanta or Portland, in between getting their tango fix in Buenos Aires.
